Alaska CNA Employment Outlook

The health care industry is one of the strongest sectors of the Alaska economy and demand for skilled workers is high. Many people are choosing to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to take advantage of the many job opportunities available throughout Alaska and the various salary and benefits packages available to workers in the health care field.

Many CNAs find employment fairly quickly and enjoy long-term job stability. Nurse aides in Alaska might find employment in a hospital, long-term care center, health clinic, in-home care position, nurse aide training center or private medical office. Alaska workers looking to avoid unemployment might want to consider a career as a CNA since the long-term employment outlook is very strong.

CNA job openings appear frequently and when searching for a position it is recommended that you check back often for new CNA job postings that meet your requirements. When employers have several job candidates to consider for an open position they will most likely base their hiring decision on a combination of the following factors: training and certification, years of experience in this field or position, and personal interviews. It is the candidate’s job to prepare themselves and their resume accordingly.

To find the CNA position that is right for you it is recommended that you interview for multiple openings and ask potential employers lots of questions. This will give you a clear understanding of the employer’s expectations and about your potential future work environment.

Salary expectations for a CNA in Alaska range between $18,000 to $36,000 per year or $9 to $16 per hour. These salary estimates do not include additional employment benefits such as health care plans, dental and vision coverage, paid time off and retirement plan contributions.
